As you probably noted - I didn't have time to comment on your post further. You've done a lot of work here and you should be proud.

I look forward to grading your blog on Tuesday or maybe even earlier.

You start out strongly here (although you need to proofread your work). I like your overview of interpellation and modality (remember that modality encodes value into images and language). I am not so keen on the middle part of your analysis. You mention Klein and his individual perception of reality, but this valorization of his individual point of view would seem to contradict what you stated earlier about language, modality and interpellation. into what social groups is Klein interpellated? What modality to these groups expect? Is he Democratic, Republican? Does he support neo-liberalism? Once you sort out Klein's interpellation, then you can discuss how he interpellated readers. That said, you may not have time, so you might want to simply rewrite how you present Klein. Instead of presenting him in a humanistic fashion through which you characterize him as using language as a tool, you need to state that he is part of a larger ideological forces in the U.S. that want to present Palin in certain fashion.

I hope that this is helpful.

Hey
I have an editor working on my blog for the price of coffee.
If you have time, could you be more specific on what and where i have to expand?
Also, what ads and graphics i must take out?

This post looks pretty good - you need to expand on a few points (e.g. what does distance from what we buy and make have to do with identity? You probably feel as if you answered this question, but your readers need more explanation of what you mean.) I note that this is post is almost a verbatim reiteration of your presentation, which is okay, but on another level, you are not supposed to transport one assignment into another - you need to build upon your research. In any case, you have a number of entries so you have shown enough original work. I would say that you need to really edit your work carefully. Take out the graphics and videos that do not exemplify your point and overwhelm your explanations. You must also make sure you explain complex ideas and proofread your work.

You do not have to post this comment or any of my comments for that matter. I cannot comment on every post and I am unavailable after Saturday June 20th.

Keep up the good work!

I didn't have time to read this in depth, but the idea that she is a type of "floating" signifier is interesting. She is also looking straight at the viewer, which is often called a "demand" picture - the first one demands a certain type of emotion and the second another type of emotion....

I like what you have here - keep going, but be sure to go back over your work carefully and correct any errors.

Instead of a long list of videos, maybe choose one or two representative videos and really analyze them closely?

You have a good start here Andrea - could you perhaps make the connections between Palin and Casey more explicit? You state that she is not what the Republicans want, but maybe you could expand on this idea in terms of binary opposition. That is, we know what we are based on what we are not. If Casey is the "anti-mother," then is Palin the "every-mother?"
